PORTLAND — David Sandalow was riding in a car on a highway in China recently when a high-speed train that reaches 200 mph zoomed by. For Sandalow, Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, the moment was a metaphor.
It reminded him that while the United States is making progress in what he called a clean-energy revolution, other countries are leaving us behind.
"We are moving forward, but they are racing," Sandalow said.
Sandalow made his comments Thursday at Maine's first event sponsored by Business Forward, a recently formed national organization that promotes reform in areas including health care, energy and education.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Some people may not want health care reform, but a survey of U.S. businesses indicates rising healthcare costs are their single, biggest concern.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rising health care costs are the single biggest economic concern facing American businesses, according to a survey of business leaders released today by Business Forward.
Business Forward, a new coalition that includes AT&T, Microsoft and I.B.M., began running radio spots in Indiana and Arkansas this week, urging business executives to work with President Obama and Congress in “reforming health care.”
Sen. John Thune and Rep. Eric Cantor’s May 11 op-ed in POLITICO (“Is New Group a Friend to Business?”) asks Business Forward to prove it “truly represents pro-business aims.” We look forward to briefing them on our mission, structure and programs.
It’s no secret that small businesses and entrepreneurs are the main engine of innovation and job growth in the U.S. economy. Today, as the nation struggles to regain its footing, we in Washington should be working overtime to give these job creators all the tools they need to thrive.
